In this video, Mary Kate Myers reminds us that as Jesus’ disciples, we are tasked with the same responsibility as were the Emmaus Road travelers. As part of God’s new creation, we are to embody divine love and servant leadership until all living beings come to know the powerful love of God for them. Luke 24:15 says, “Jesus himself arrived and joined [the disciples] on their journey.” It is the same for us. We do not go our life’s journey alone, especially in times of unfathomable grief. When we feel as though all hope is lost, the Christ remains with us, reminding us again and again that suffering will never have the last word.
