E46: Job B - The Limits of Human Wisdom
The Bible in 30 Seconds or Less | Old Testament: Books of Poetry and Wisdom
Most people think that the book of Job is about why bad things happen to good people. And while that is the presenting problem the real theme of the book has more to do with the limits of human wisdom. Job and the other human characters know nothing about God's wager that Job will serve God even if there's nothing in it for him. They're information is limited. The really remarkable thing is that Job does decide to serve God, even though he doesn't understand and even though there are no guarantees. Cool!
