God is always listening. Our world is getting warmer. The voices of the hateful - the racist, the bigoted - seems to grow louder, families are fleeing their homes, their countries pleading and praying for somewhere safe to belong. Walls are growing taller and taller and our apathy grows with them. We shake our head as we point our fingers. Yet through it all, God listens. God sees. God cares. God is speaking in noise. God is speaking in the void. The good news of Malachi is that God cares enough to talk back, to call us on our own crap to beckon us toward change, to remind us that change starts with you and me.
