For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared before hand to be our way of life."(Ephesians 2:8-10 )In confirmation my pastor said that we believed in "down religion" -- God comes down to us; we do not earn salvation. And this is good news. Salvation isn't something to work for, to brag about, to wait for, to happen sometime in the future. It is finished. And we respond in love and service. Free.
