E131: Ephesians A - Responding in Faith
The Bible in 30 Seconds or Less | New Testament: Paul's Epistles and Hebrews
Paul is dead. The church is growing. Jesus hasn't returned. Rome still reigns. Against this backdrop one of Paul's associates wrote a letter. It doesn't address particular early church conflict. Instead its teachings are wide ranging: By grace you have been saved through faith. Be imitators of God as beloved children. Wives, be subject to your husbands. Husbands, love your wives. Put on the armor of God. Six dense chapters that reinforce, expand upon, and sometimes flat out contradict Paul's theology. Ephesians can be difficult to make sense of as a whole but perhaps that's the beauty of this letter. It reveals an early church growing, wrestling, evolving, responding in faith.
